This morning was our first class. It was a releif to finally get to class. I spent 45 minutes prior to class trying to find Techmology Services to get my computer on Acadia wireless network. Open Acadia sent us an e-mail saying that they would be at Fountain Common at 8:00 am. I arrived on campus around that time and went to campus security first to get my parking pass and student ID. I got over to Fountain Common and enterened the building on the first floor. There were no signs or directions about where they were in the building so I left and went down to the Tech services in the Library. They knew nothing about anything going on at Fountain Common - but they helped me out. Open Acadia needs to use a little more signage - I wasn't the only person who couldn't find them. I ended up being late to the first class - I HATE THAT!
New terms for me:
UDL - universal design for learning - and of course, Apple is light years ahead of the pack!
Disruptive Technologies - the day has come when word processors are pretty much passe - especially with the arrival of portable, 'smart' technologies like iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, the reign of the computer as 'high tech' is over!
QR Codes (Quick Response)
but I learned about some great apps - Pic Collage and Prizmo- awesome!
